Principles Behind Natural
Weight Loss
Author: R. Ayoubi
Natural weight loss is a big subject today for many
people who do not understand the principle of eating
only the amount they need for the amount physical
activity they perform; few ever listen to this suggestion.
This is not as simple as it seems though even though
the concept is easy to comprehend; with over a third
of Americans, and millions in other countries who
are gradually catching up, it obviously isn't that
easy! There are many reasons why you would want to
lose weight once you have put it on, but what reason
is strong enough to actually encourage you to do it,
good health or looks?
The strange thing is though that it is so much easier
to stay trim than it is to lose weight because as
soon as you start putting on weight, many things become
more difficult.
Nevertheless weight maintenance is something that
has to be worked on and planned otherwise we will
put on extra pounds.
Apparently even if you have lost weight with a calorie
controlled diet, it doesn't take long if you come
off it to revert to your old ways and you can start
watching the pounds go back on again. Despite the
momentum towards weight gain, natural weight loss
methods can stop this from happening, and there are
plenty of good reasons to avoid piling on excess pounds
that go beyond vanity or social acceptance.
Most health experts contend that the significance
of excess weight is more than cosmetic as it takes
a huge toll on a person's physical health. Losing
weight by natural means isn't a big secret and deep
down most of us understand the principles behind it.
Some people worry about what foods they will eat
on a natural weight loss program but it is just a
case of having a combination of, protein, carbohydrate
and fibre. If you were looking at a meal then this
would be a baked potato (carbohydrate), the vegetables
would be the fibre and a little meat, is the protein.
The problem is calories from dietary fat can be high
and have a tendency to be retained by the body which
is something that doesn't happen when excess calories
are consumed with other foods. Don't fall into the
fat-free trap where manufacturers keep coming out
with low-fat or fat-free versions of their best-selling
foods despite the fact that Americans are getting
fatter anyway.
One of the greatest delusions of the 1990s was that
no fat meant non-fattening but the truth is you are
often getting just as many calories from these foods;
the calories are just not coming from fat. Weight
control methods ensure you avoid the fat-free products
but suggest you eat healthy and nutritious snacks
if you are hungry.
The subject of when to eat and how often can be contentious
but the latest thoughts on the subject suggest that
keeping to regular meal times and eating small nutritious
snacks between meals may be the answer. Natural weight
loss is a lifestyle choice not a fad; hence, it takes
a great deal of determination, self-control, and discipline
to achieve your ideal weight.
