5 Weight Loss Tips by Betty

Author: Betty

Before I had my daughter weight was never an issue for me. I was a size 7 and proud of it. Then I had my daughter and gained about 40 extra pounds that was never there before. I thought no problem, it will just come off just like it did after having my son. Ha!! Was I ever in for a wake up call! I know most of you moms know what I am talking about. So I went in search of the so called perfect diet. I can't even begin to tell you how many ones I tried. I got books, saw commercials and tried many of them. But nothing was happening! Why couldn't I look like those women on tv? Well three years later I found out why. Every womans body is different. So I am giving you my 5 weight loss tips. Now there is no guarantee this will work for everyone, but the only thing you have to do is try. That is the key answer in life. Not just to lose weight. It does not hurt to try.

1. Go see your doctor and get a physical. That is the most important step to take. There may be some things you can't do.
For example,I had a c-section with my daughter and had to wait six weeks (due to other reasons also) before I was even allowed to vacuum. So see everyone is different.

2. For two weeks make a journal. I know for me it was hard to find the time with a new baby to write things down. So get a inexpensive tape recorder. Keep it with you at all times. You keep your cell with you all the time, so this should not be hard. Through it the diaper bag, your purse, etc. Then you can record things you eat or do everyday.Make sure you record if you exercise, how much, what you eat and drink and how much of it.
Including alcohol.

3. When you have time (when baby is napping for example)listen to the recordings you made and write as much of the information you can. For example, you had pizza for a meal 5 times in two weeks and ate 5 pieces at each time, etc. Do this with all the times you exercised and what exercise you did. And your drinks.
Be it soda or beer, wine, etc.

4. Now go over this list and find out what you need to remove from it. example, if you ate 5 meals that were pizza and ate 5 pieces, replace that with eating one or two pieces and then add a small salad,or a side of cottage cheese,or even some fruit. Or break it up and make your three meals a day into six, which ever way works for you. I couldn't train myself to eat six meals a day. It just felt like all I was doing was eating. So I just made better choices on the types and amounts of food I ate. And I took it one day at a time.

5. You can do this next step at any time, but make sure you do step 4 and 5 together. That is how I did it and it worked great for me. I started walking for one half hour a day, everyday! It's that simple. If your spouse works,do the walk before he leaves for work or after. I went in the mornings. It was more peaceful to me. Listen to the birds or get a Walkman to listen to. Which every you like. I did both, it just depended on what kind of mood I was in.

In closing I would like to say that you may not change your eating habits in one day, but at least start walking right away.
I lost 20 pounds in two months doing this and am still in a size 7! I don't walk everyday now, but I still eat good and make sure to keep busy as much as possible. No more sitting on the couch pigging out on chips and dip while my daughter was napping. Or taking long naps myself everyday. As for the alcohol use your judgment. The less the better, but that is your call not mine. I quit drinking for at least the first month and now only have a drink once in awhile. For me it was easy to cut back, because once I did, the weight came off quicker. Ladies we are not like the men who can skip one or two meals and lose ten pounds. How I wish we could sometimes. But just take it one day at a time and I really hope this helps. Thanks for reading this and hope you have a very successful time at losing weight.
