Tips To Prevent
From Tanning
Author: Peter Sams
Protection through sun block creams is the easiest way to
face the sun for hours. Sun cream should be applied thickly
every 2-3 hours. For the best effectiveness, it should be
applied at least 30 minutes before going out into the sun
and reapplied if washed off from swimming. The higher the
SPF factors on the cream the greater the protection from burning.
However, creams don't prevent burns; they just help limit
the UV radiation exposure.
Know your limits - lighter skinned people have less tolerance
than darker skinned people and kids need guidance from adults.
Keep an eye on the way you feel and the color of your skin
by taking frequent trips indoors for water and analysis.
Ever wonder how some men and women are not only able to have
a
tan all-year long, but have a tan all over their body -- even
in the most hard to reach spots -- like between their toes?
They probably used a tanning spray. Among modern cosmetics
there is a pretty wide range of different products for sunless
tanning. Of course, the most widely used is a self-tanning
spray or tanning lotion (lotions in most cases are oriented
for use at home, while beauty salons usually use special tanning
aerosols). But different brands of so-called "bronzers",
tan accelerators and tanning pills are also widely used.
One of the most important tips you should follow is to always
choose the right type of sun tan lotion before going out in
the sun. This will protect your skin from the UVB rays damaging
your skins collagen and cells and will also add extra nutrients
to rebuild your skin. Usually, SPF 30 or 45 will be the highest
amount of protection available from a sun tan lotion. You
may also want to consider getting a lotion that has moisturizer.
This will help add nutrients to your skin while you are exposed
to the sun. The nutrients needed most while in the sun consist
of Vitamins A and E. There are also several moisturizers that
will not contain oil in them which will work better for keeping
your skin balanced.
Avoid touching your face with your fingers or leaning your
face on objects that collect sebum and skin residue like the
telephone receiver. Touching your face can spread the bacteria
that cause pores to become inflamed and irritated. To keep
bacteria at bay, wash your hands before applying anything
to your face, such as treatment creams or makeup.
Plan your wardrobe to avoid burning. Even a light, shiny
fabric or a wide-brimmed hat can help protect your skin from
damage. Go ahead and don that long sleeve cover-up or advertise
your favorite sports team on a hat; you'll still look fashionable
and be protected.
Remove all makeup before tanning. Most makeup products contain
sunscreens that are not necessary in the controlled, indoor
environment and will prevent covered areas from tanning. Also,
they may contain ingredients that will increase photosensitivity.
Take a nutritional supplement that contains tyrosine (Tyrosine
is an amino acid that the body produces naturally and is essential
to the tanning process. The body actually continues to tan
after UV exposure until it uses up the tyrosine present. It
acts as an internal accelerator, but does nothing without
UV light exposure. Be sure to follow directions of any nutritional
supplement. Your Tanning Zone consultant can recommend an
appropriate product for you.)
